Edo 2020: PDP Governors Reveal Why They Accepted Governor Obaseki, Speak On What Next To Do
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has disclosed the reason why the forum throws weight behind Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki for his reelection.
The PDP Governors’ Forum stated that the unwavering development of Governor Obaseki in his first-term has earned him the party’s ticket. Adding that, they assured him of their support in the forthcoming election in the state.
Brandnewsday reports that the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal made this known in a statement while felicitating Obaseki on his 63rd birthday.
The statement signed by the Forum’s Director-General, Cyril Maduabum, stated that governors on the PDP platform have vowed to support Obaseki in clinching a second term.
Tanbuwa said Obaseki’s styles in embracing his people, the vulnerable and downtrodden in Edo have won him their support and the PDP governorship ticket.

They also appealed Governor Obaseki to continue to do more for people of his state in areas of health, education, provision of infrastructure, and social development.

“We ask you to continue to work and embrace all the people of Edo State, particularly the downtrodden and the vulnerable. We admire the job you have done in Edo State in your current term which informed the high level of confidence reposed on you by the PDP and the people of Edo State.
“We pray that God will lead you to do even better in your second term, in terms of achievements already recorded in the provision of infrastructure, healthcare, education, rapid economic development, social development initiatives like your determined onslaught on the human trafficking cartel and human capital development, sustained improvement on ease of doing business, incorporation of technology in running the affairs of government.
“We wish to assure you of support in the forthcoming election in Edo State,” the statement read.
Recall that Obaseki defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) he was at loggerheads with Adams Oshiomhole, the immediate past National Chairman of the party.
In a related vein, APC disqualified the governor from participating in the June 22 primary election, due to misspelling of name on his certificate.
Despite depicting to PDP, Obaseki emerged as the governorship candidate in the coming Edo election.
