Even In Death, Chinua Achebe Knows Things Fall Apart In Nigeria By Mudashir Hassan

In the beginning, was the sorrow of many and the survival of few; based on the unorganized policy of our currency (called a cashless policy), where so many souls were lost, many businesses were closed and some still crawling to this day as they lack access to their money.

As if that is not enough, comes the major decision-making in our political clime, after the Buharonomic maladministration.
Here comes the election of ‘Bulaba’, ‘Emilokans’ and ‘Omo Eni’ (one’s child) using the ‘Bebere’ mantra, President Bola Tinubu. President Tinubu whose first day in office announced, ‘fuel subsidy is gone’. A decision adding salt to the injury of my country’s people, but rather of the people to criticize the wickedness done to them, instead, the emergence of several economy gurus arose whose knowledge doesn’t exceed the programmed Adam Smith economics textbooks, of course, they lack real economic knowledge; analysing how the subsidy removal will benefit the masses without the setbacks.

It was this period I knew, a lot was wrong with our education system.
We are still struggling in this untold hardship, due to the high cost of transportation that affected almost all commodities, leading to a high cost of living, which has caused so many lost jobs, many to sell their properties, and many to die of hunger and starvation, many businesses crawling before, crashed and so many now crawling finding their feet to rise again.

While the poor are still suffocating, another anti-people policy was introduced, which is student loans. Funnily enough, many gullible Nigerians and ‘Abobakus’ (the one who dies with the king) still hailed this idiocy initiative, which will turn so many Nigerians into slaves, while trying to nurture the loan even though many might not get employed, better still, secure peanut jobs.

The British and America initiated this policy, and their citizens are protesting against this policy with every means possible for it to come to an end, as some commit suicide when they discover they aren’t living but serving the hard way.

But in the process of defence of the policy by the gullible ones, the Education subsidy was also removed, against what was said when the fuel subsidy was removed, which is using the fund on education and other social services like health and the like. But instead, every institution started hiking their tuition fees. Commercialization of education began even after subsidy removal, which is a testimony to the loan policy as a form of slavery. The masses are crying for their survival both on the high cost of living and striving for the betterment of their children through education.

The legislative chambers are busy sharing funds, for holidays and buying SUVs estimated to be N160m each for 469 people, to the detriment and suffering of the people they are representing.

As if we’ve seen it all, selling of public properties, demolition of properties and grabbing of lands across all spheres, become the order of the day by those who ought to provide shelter to the people.

Let’s not talk of the insecurities across the Nation, because we can’t undo the damage of irresponsible government, which lives and properties of her people are nothing to them. Recently, the Nigerian Army, which ought to be defending its people against terrorism, kidnapping and insecurity turned itself into a nightmare by killing so many innocent Nigerians in the Northern part of the country, in the name of a mistake. Do tell Chinua Achebe in sleep that things fall apart.

Interestingly, numerous unlawful incarcerations of rights movements and self-determination leaders, while real criminals are enjoying their freedom, even get praised and hailed by those who ought to stone them. When will Nigerians wake up to the reality that nothing good, has come out of tribal/religion/partisan politics than competency?

It was written all over the wall, audible to the deaf and visible to the blind, that the worst-ever budget presentation at the legislative chamber, was mandating song echoes in the chamber or the hypocrite’s budget itself, where so many funds will be spent on tours, renovations and feeding, which none or few go to the people’s welfare.

Do we still need a cane as a pat, to feel the pain or till our poor finally got suffocated?

We can’t keep being a praying country, while others are evolving through technology.
In this festive period, all households ought to be enjoying their holiday, but the reverse is the case as Nigerians sing a dupe emi opin (we thank God for life) is the song they are singing to appease their suffering at home.
At the same time, the people of Bokkus community in Plateau state of North central Nigeria were thrown in mourning mood, as terrorists invaded them and killed many innocent souls on the very morning of Xmas Day, while the commander in Chief of Arms Forces was in a merry mood with family and cronies. Little kids turned to orphans, as many were also killed alongside their parents.

When will these killings, terrorism, kidnapping and banditry be a thing of the past in our clime?
These call for sobbing.

On this note, I would like to borrow the village travellers’ little advice, to stay safe and as well save their returning fare to avoid a story that touches the heart, because we do know not what January holds, as the fuel price might soar again.

My country people, let us unite to organize, for a social revolution, that will lead to the people’s victory or else, I pray not for the mob action type of revolution if the hardship becomes unbearable.

To us on the left side, it is high time for action.
