Brand News Day Nigeria reports that the new Tax law requires you to have a Tax ID before you can operate your bank account by January 2026.
Therefore, if you are operating a bank account you will need a Tax ID in order to enjoy a seamless banking experience. However, FIRS has announced that your NIN will represent your Tax ID as an individual while CAC business Registered Number will replace TIN. It’s important to have your JTB TIN handy, as some banks are already asking for it despite the Federal Government, through FIRS, announcement that Nigerians shouldn’t worry about generating TIN anymore.

Pick from the available options: explore JTB, Individual, business TIN, etcetera.
Select ‘Register for TIN’
Input your BVN; Date of Birth, e-mail, etc
Click on ‘Get ID’
Click on Search
Fill what you do for a living
Submit and Get ID
Then, verify you are not a robot
Wait for a week for your TIN number, to be sent to your mail.
