How to obtain a Tax ID for individuals using your NIN

Follow the guidelines below:

  1. Go to the website at https://taxid.firs.gov.ng/
  2. On the homepage, click “Individual.

  3. From the Tax ID Retrieval Method dropdown, select NIN, then enter your NIN.

  4. Click “Retrieve Tax ID.” A pop-up box will appear requesting your details.

  5. Enter your first name, last name, and date of birth, then tick the checkbox to consent to the use of your information for identity verification.

  6. Click “Submit.”

  1. A confirmation message will appear stating that your NIN has been successfully verified and matched to a Tax ID in the system, and your Tax ID will be displayed.

Copy the Tax ID on display and keep it in a safe folder. You can then proceed to print it out or write it down to present it in the bank.
