Brand News Day Nigeria reports that the new Tax law requires you to have a Tax ID before you can operate your bank account by January 2026.

You will find the steps on how to obtain your Tax ID as an individual using your National Identification Number (NIN) that you provide.
Follow the guidelines below:
On the homepage, click “Individual.
From the Tax ID Retrieval Method dropdown, select NIN, then enter your NIN.
Click “Retrieve Tax ID.” A pop-up box will appear requesting your details.
Enter your first name, last name, and date of birth, then tick the checkbox to consent to the use of your information for identity verification.
Click “Submit.”
Copy the Tax ID on display and keep it in a safe folder. You can then proceed to print it out or write it down to present it in the bank.
