Tony Elumelu has demystified conspiracy surrounding the myth that he is President Tinubu’s anointed candidate to become the next CBN Governor.

Brandnewsday reports that Billionaire and Chairman of Heirs Holdings,  Elumelu discredited a rumour going rounds across some social media platforms alleging that he has been tipped by President Bola Tinubu to become the next Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

The rumour was started on the popular microblogging platform, X, formerly Twitter, by one @Imranmuhdz; he stated: “According to a Source President Tinubu is also considering Tony O. Elumelu as CBN Governor.”

His response was reposted by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The current CBN Governor is Folashodun Shonubi who holds the position in an acting capacity while the main governor, Godwin Emefiele, remains suspended and in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

Recall that the CBN Governor has been in the DSS’s custody since June over misconduct in his office. Also, alleged to use his good offices to buy goodwill from some selected people.
