The Association of Young Kwara Professionals in Diaspora (ASKWAPID) has rejoiced with the Muslim faithful in Kwara and across the country on the occasion of the Eid el-Kabir.
In the spirit of the Eid festival, the group heaped praises on the Kwara State Government for its goodwill to reopen Flower Gardens, granting support for an eventful programme in Amusement Park, and for granting three-day holidays for civil servants to enjoy the maximum pleasure of the festive period.
The group, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Abdulwaheed Olamilekan Sulaiman, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Adebayo Ahmad, described the gesture by the Kwara State Government as “commendable and favourable to the majority of the citizenry.”
Kwara state government on Tuesday announced the reopening of Flower Garden after completing a facelift on the facility. It also declared a 3-day holiday for the state workers in the spirit of Eid el-Kabir festival.
According to the state government, “The beautiful garden has been redesigned to allow for enjoyable family getaways, leisure visits, meditation, reading, and relaxation. The redesigning has been done to restore the beauty of the area. Its alluring nature, trees and flowers have been carefully preserved to bring back the beautiful memory of the capital city, Ilorin.”
The statement reads in part, “We extend our felicitation with Kwarans most especially our Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of the Eid el-Kabir. The occasion of Eid should serve as an opportunity for us to reflect on our deeds, pray for the advancement of our beloved state and country at large, and reconnect with families and friends to celebrate this august occasion.
“The three days’ holidays declared to mark the festival period by the Kwara state government appeared to be an avenue to relax, not just for the Muslim brethren but also, for the entire Kwarans. Also, the moment would placate the effect of economic hardship facing the workforce and Nigerians at this critical time.
“Likewise, to unwind the stress and tussle of the present state of the country, we described the state government’s redesign of the Flower Garden as commendable as it is a timely avenue for funfilled Eid celebration.”
Mr Abdwaheed also felicitated the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR on the occasion of the 2023 edition of the Ilorin Emirates Durbar, while wishing the sons and daughters of the Emirates an eventful celebration of their cultural heritage.
The National Coordinator further urged the state government to extend its hands of fellowship to the security agencies, to build up a well-secured Kwara during and after the festive period.
