A video has emerged showing how the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Kemebradikumo Pondei collapsed during an ongoing investigative hearing before the House of Representatives Committee probing the commission.
Brandnewsday had reported that Pondei had slumped while being questioned by members of the committee led by Thomas Ereyitomi over alleged financial misappropriation at the NDDC.
It was revealed that the Acting NDDC boss allegedly slumped during an interrogation by one of the committee members. Thus led to a rowdy session and the disruption of the hearing as efforts were made to awake him.
Meanwhile, Pondei’s collapse had led to a 30-minute adjournment of the session.
Recall that Pondei last week staged a walkout on the committee, stating that the former head of the panel, Mr Ojo is a man of interest in the ongoing investigation.
The committee again on Friday last week summoned both Prof. Pondei and Sen. Godswill Akpabio, the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, following revelations by the former Acting Managing Director of the Commission, Joy Nunieh.
The Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, nonetheless, appeared before the committee on Monday.
In another hand, he Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila was responding to questions after the NDDC boss collapsed and rushed out for medical attention.
The speaker of the House of Rep said: “There would be no need for the MD of NDDC to appear anymore since he has submitted a written response.
