Two Persons With COVID-19 Have Flew To Their Houses- Oyo State Govt Reveals

The Oyo State Government has announced that two of the 33 active patients of the coronavirus in the state have absconded and are nowhere to be found.

Brandnewsday reports that the state government made this known in a daily update by its ‘Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force Update (for May 05, 2020);’ the government announced that the two persons have flown back to their residence.

According to the Oyo State Task Force, ”of the 33 active cases being managed by the state, two have absconded, possibly to their permanent places of residence. This brings the number of active cases in Oyo State to 31”

In a series of tweets on the popular micro-blogging platform- Twitter, with the official handle of the state governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday.

The government disclosed that so far, a total of 975 samples have been collected and are being processed; and as of the said date, there is a total number of 33 active cases.

”We have received more results from pending COVID-19 confirmation tests. The result of one suspected case came back Positive on 03/05/2020. The person is based in Ibadan,” the Oyo State Government COVID-19 Task Force said.

The statement reads: ”the results of five suspected cases came back positive, on 04/05/2020. Four of these five cases are immigrants and the last person is an Oyo State resident.

 

”The results of five suspected cases came back positive, on 05/05/2020. Four of these five cases are travellers from the Northern part of Nigeria and the last one is an Oyo State resident.

”Of the 33 active cases being managed by the state, two have absconded, possibly to their permanent places of residence. This brings the number of active cases in Oyo State to 31.

”Ten cases are self-isolating while twenty-one cases are being managed in the isolation centres in Oyo State; one at the University College Hospital, Ibadan & twenty in Olodo. Nineteen of these twenty cases at Olodo are asymptomatic and the last person has anosmia (loss of smell).

Reacting to the development, many Nigerian have called out Oyo State government over the tweets; as some described it has ‘worrisome’. Condemning the government nonchalant attitudes over the absconded cases.

According to a user, why will the government said the two flew ‘possibly to their permanent places of residence.; didn’t they have their record?

 

Another user said, since they said the two that flew back to their houses will not be traced, we are dead in this country.
