The United States (US) Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has disclosed that two cats have tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus disease in New York.
Brandnewsday gathered that the US Department of Agriculture in a combined statement with the country’s Centre for Disease Control agency on Wednesday revealed that the two cats tested positive for coronavirus also known as COVID-19.
According to the agencies, the two cats were showing respiratory signs, this led to the test to be carried out on them.
In a report by CNN, the first test was done by a veterinarian, the veterinarian tested the first house cat after it showed mild respiratory symptoms.
Consequently, in a separate area of New York, the second cat was also tested after it showed signs of the respiratory malady.
However, the report confirmed that the owner of the pet was revealed to have tested positive for the virus.
The statement reads: “These are the first pets in the United States to test positive.”
While reacting to the spread of the virus from pets, the agencies, however, declared that there is no evidence linking pets to the spread of COVID-19 in the United State.
The agencies said, “There is no justification in taking measures against companion animals that may compromise their welfare.”
Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases in the United States are 855,250; while 78,353 have recovered and 47,974 death has been recorded.
