A yet-to-be-identified lady took to the popular microblogging platform X, formally Twitter, to show her displeasure at how the leading Nigerian Bank branch, situated at Owolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos State capital, is used as a tool to wipe off the account of her acquaintance up to the tune of 1.7 Million naira (N1,700,000 ).

In her words, ”Zenith Bank is a thief. The bank is not safe to operate. We came here yesterday night to make a withdrawal only for the transaction to be declined and the card was swallowed by the machine. All efforts to retrieve the card, prove abortive.

”We waited, hoping that the machine would release the card later. After 10 minutes of waiting. We started seeing debit alerts from the phone. We tried to immediately block the account but it failed; until all the money in the account was wiped out to the last kobo.

Reacting to the lady’s claim, a tweet user said, the customers should have taken their plight to the bank for a resolution instead of coming to social media.

Another X user said this is the best way for it to be resolved as Nigerian banks’ nonchalant attitudes on such issues will get the case nowhere.

A user said it is obvious that it is done by somebody working with Zenith Bank.
