Your Peace Of Mind Or Your Piece Of Mind? ”Pleasure is like a personalized gift, everyone unwraps it differently,” unknown author.
The gift of life comes with a price if not prices. The affairs of life are entangled as men and women move around to source for what they want – what to eat, what to be, and what to become- forgetting that there are phases in living life. The point now is, is it worth your peace of mind or your piece of mind?
To understand the old saying I am used to, over a decade ago- I am not sure of the author – it goes thus, “We all have two eyes but the way we see things are different”. Does this depict any meaning to you? If yes, this piece is for you and it will shed light on peace of mind, and if the reverse is the case, ‘you will learn; stop playing,‘ (in Darkskinguy’s voice). Pardon my sense of humour.
The essence of this article was inspired a couple of years ago when I ‘fell from grace’, (never mind, thank you; I read your mind echoing, EYAH SORRY O), well, far from your thoughts. A fall from grace doesn’t necessarily mean falling out of riches, however, in my case, I fell out of someone’s love.
This (piece) has been on draft since September 12, 2020, at 2:12 a.m. (exactly 3 years). Wait, I heard what you said, (how is that my business) well, it is your business because I decided to share it with you after being on my draft 3 years ago.
I couldn’t sleep at night because I was hearing a voice (moaning) in sleep. I chose to be awake because of the voice in sleep that was seizing to catch her breath after enjoying a painful pleasure, while I was there, being the timekeeper for a (FWF) friendship that left me with gross memories to live by. Oh no, you want to hear the nitty-gritty of the story, right? Well, I will save it for the subsequent lines to be brought to life.
First off, before I continue with my story, promise me one thing; Will you? Promise to forever choose your peace of mind over anything in the world, regardless of whose Ox is gored. Don’t murmur, say it out with your full chest, Precious (That’s cut!).
Back to my story, there was this friend of mine whom the lockdown boredom merged us together during the hit of COVID. We were good friends not until Banky W’s stunt on Adesua poked into our friendship affairs, and things were so good on both fields. Interestingly, the main field’s affairs were so good beyond human explanation; as a turn of fate, it led to the circumstance of seriousness, not until reality set in.
My acclaimed friend became a friend with somebody who befriended her. We are later far apart from closeness. The house mouse informed the mouse in the bush because I took the matter on my head, hoping that one day, things would fall in place, (come off it) they never did. I was losing my peace of mind over the state of our affair. Well, things never worked out. Thank God I was revived with further revelation to execrate my loss with, what is meant for you will never leave you.
I used the abovementioned story as bait to keep you reading. However, God said I should tell you to never trade your peace of mind with your piece (infatuations) of mind. There are many a story that ends in horror when people lose themselves while trying to satisfy other people’s goals. My point is that it is good to help others but not to the detriment of your peace. If they don’t see that you care, don’t convince them by tearing yourself apart.
Popular Senegalese-America singer, Akon said, ‘If you want to stay rich, stay stingy’, while I will say if you want to stay alive, stay with your peace.
You don’t profess your love for people that you love by taking away your peace of mind. You don’t prove that you care for him/her while you lose your sanity. Do what makes you happy not what takes away your happiness.
Remember the saying that if it takes your peace, it isn’t worth it. Don’t overprove your love for someone while you wallow in pain. You have tried by coming this far. Remember, your peace of mind over your piece of mind.
This was inspired by heartbreak. Not even a misogynist, alpha male or feminist can be spared.
