The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has made a shocking revelation about its engagement with Adeherself who was formerly charged with cybercrime.
BrandNewsDay reports that EFCC has reacted to the backlash gaslighted after the speaking engagement of Adedamola Adewale, popularly known as Ade Herself, at the NYSC Orientation lecture of August 31, 2023, in Lagos.
This news platform understands that Adeherself has been in the bad books of the law after she was charged in July 2020 over her involvement in a fraud case.
According to the EFCC lawyer, “Adeherself on June 15, with the intent to defraud, had in her possession a fraudulent document which was entitled ‘WhatsApp’.
“The offence violates Sections 318 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011,” Daji added.
“Unfortunately, most of the comments bordered on lack of information on the status of the case involving Miss Adewale.
“It is important to state that the fraud charges brought against the Influencer by the Commission had been determined.
”Indeed, her presence in the Commission is pursuant to the judgement of the court that ordered the Commission to tap her talent as an actress, skit maker and social media influencer in a programme of reformation to dissuade other youths from getting entangled in cybercrimes.
“Her engagement with the Commission is part of her non-custodial sentence,” the EFCC said.
BrandNewsDay had reported that in a ruling on July 15, 2020, Justice Sherifat Solebo granted her N500,000 bail and also ordered that she must provide two sureties with reliable means of income which would be verified by the court.
“Adeherself on June 15, with the intent to defraud, had in her possession a fraudulent document which was entitled ‘WhatsApp’.
“The offence violates Sections 318 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011,” the EFCC Counsel revealed.
