Stanbic IBTC Holdings, a member of Standard Bank Group, announced it would hold its annual Youth Leadership Series (YLS) on Tuesday, 08 March 2022.
Since 2017, the Youth Leadership Series has been an avenue for the leading financial institution to empower young Nigerians to become future business leaders. This year’s edition is the fifth in the series. It will hold at the auditorium of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Nigeria.
The Youth Leadership Series (YLS) has always featured professionals from various walks of life to facilitate high-impact sessions. The featured guests discuss relevant issues that include but are not limited to agribusiness, entrepreneurship, digital technology, and women in business. These conversations have helped empower the young participants with the requisite knowledge to prepare them for life’s journeys. This year’s edition of YLS would be no different.
Dr Demola Sogunle, Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, spoke on the rationale for hosting the YLS annually. In his speech, he emphasised that the financial institution remained committed to providing the Nigerian youth with the skills and opportunities required to become future leaders.
“Empowering our youths with the requisite skills to excel is important to us. Nigeria has one of the largest youth populations in Africa and the world. Young people constitute about 50 percent of the Nigerian population. The youths must be highly prioritized, so they can harness their potential and help to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth”.
The Stanbic IBTC Chief Executive further stated that the organisation would not relent in its efforts to harness the nation’_s economic potential. “We intend to be a part of the big picture by contributing our quota to society and building a solid foundation for the future of our youths and nation,” he said.
The 2022 edition of YLS would have two engaging breakout sessions to discuss ‘Building Achievement through Consistency’ and ‘Perseverance and Life Planning in an Unconventional Career’.
The breakout sessions would feature experts such as Chude Jideonwo, Media Entrepreneur, Lawyer and founder Jou Inc; Bunmi George, founder Shredder Gang; Odunayo Eweniyi, Co-founder, Piggyvest; and Femi Omogbenigun, Chief Executive, 3 Line Technologies.
