About Nigerian Breweries ( NB Plc )

Nigerian Breweries Plc, the pioneer and largest brewing company in Nigeria, was incorporated in 1946. In June 1949, the company recorded a landmark when the first bottle of STAR lager beer rolled off its Lagos Brewery bottling lines.
This first brewery in Lagos has undergone several optimization processes and as of today boasts of the most modern brew house in the country. In 1957, the company commissioned its second brewery in Aba. Kaduna Brewery was commissioned in 1963 while Ibadan Brewery came on stream in 1982. In 1993, the company acquired its fifth brewery in Enugu.
In October 2003, a sixth brewery, sited at Ameke, in Enugu State was commissioned and christened Ama Brewery. Ama Brewery is today, the biggest and most modern brewery in Nigeria. Operations in the Old Enugu Brewery were however discontinued in 2004, while the company acquired a malting Plant in Aba in 2008.
In October 2011, Nigerian Breweries acquired majority equity interests in Sona Systems Associates Business Management Limited, (Sona Systems) and Life Breweries Limited from Heineken N.V. This followed Heineken’s acquisition of controlling interests in five breweries in Nigeria from Sona Group in January 2011.

Corporate Treasury Analyst at Nigerian Breweries ( NB Plc )

Description

  • Nigerian Breweries Plc is offering an exciting opportunity to enrich your career development.
  • Are you interested in financial analysis and research required to support optimal financial liquidity, cash management and other volatilities of the Company?
  • The Corporate Treasury Analyst is responsible for providing analyses of cash, foreign exchange rates, cross rates amongst others on a periodic basis to keep track of trends and financial happenings in the economy. This role is an integral part of the Nigerian Breweries’ Treasury Team.

Key Responsibilities
Liquidity Management and Foreign exchange management:

  • Monitors and reports cash and debt position to aid decision making.
  • Investigate unclear transactions in our daily bank statement (where applicable).
  • Works with the corporate treasury manager to develop the cash flow forecast.

Reporting and Analyses:

  • Prepares the Other net financing report which focuses on the month-on-month movement of Interest expense and foreign exchange losses.
  • Makes inputs into FX Hedging report on a quarterly basis which shows FX exposure for the following twelve (12) months.
  • Monitors and maintains accurate records of monthly collections, payments, dividends, facilities with banks, and all FX purchased for Invisibles.

Relationship Management:

  • Maintains excellent working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Budget Responsibility:

  • Participates in the preparation of quarterly and annual budget reports for interest expense, interest income, foreign exchange loss or gain, and reports to Corporate Treasury Manager.

Special Projects and ad hoc activities:

  • Participates in special projects that come with the role.
  • Support the Corporate Treasury Manager in executing ad hoc activities such as review of contracts, research, etc.

Management of Nigerian Breweries’ NGO:

  • Prepares and uploads the payment run on a weekly basis.
  • Monitors actual budget against annual budget.
  • Keeps track of all investments and plans with the Corporate Treasury Manager on various investment strategies to ensure that the right mix is achieved.

Requirements
Education:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and other related disciplines (minimum of second class upper)
  • Professional Qualification – ICAN or ACCA (Completed or at the final stage)

Work Experience:

  • 3 years working experience in Treasury or other related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years of Treasury experience in a commercial or investment bank (Added advantage)

Process & Control Improvement (P&CI) Specialist at Nigerian Breweries ( NB Plc )

Description

  • The Process and Control Improvement (P&CI) team is offering an exciting opportunity to enrich career development. Are you interested in supporting the business in strengthening processes, designing and monitoring internal controls, ensuring process excellence while maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders? Then you are just the person we are looking for.
  • The P&CI Specialist reporting to the P&CI Manager will drive and support the continuous improvement, monitoring, testing, design and implementation of processes and controls in Nigerian Breweries Plc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in control monitoring, testing and driving implementation of remediating actions.
  • Develop a key control framework and execute a review of internal controls over financial reporting, as assigned by the P&CI Manager.
  • Fraud Management – Support the process of risk identification, assessment, response and monitoring of emerging risks.

Requirements
Education:

  • B.Sc in Economics, Accounting / Finance/ Audit or Business Administration. (Minimum of second class, upper-division).
  • Professional certification – ACA/ACCA/CIMA/RA/RE/CPA/CFE or – CIA/RO
  • Internationally recognized certification in Six Sigma (Yellow/Green/ Black Belt)/ PMP / Prince 2 would be an added advantage.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in internal/external audit and/or internal control from a reputable/international company.
  • Experience in operational audit, risk management.
  • Proven ability to work in an international setting.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally
  • Knowledge of internal control.

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of risk management, internal control, process management, fraud management and compliance.
  • Strong quantitative, statistical and computer skills with the ability to perform data analysis with spreadsheet and/or database applications.
  • Fluent in the use of French (both in writing & speaking)
