Liverpool are in Italy tonight to meet Inter Milan in the first leg of their heavyweight Champions League last-16 tie.
The Reds reached successive finals under Jurgen Klopp in 2018 and 2019, losing to Real Madrid in the first before beating Tottenham, but have not been beyond the quarter-finals in their two campaigns since.
After a perfect group stage in which they won all six of their games to top what had looked like a tough group when the draw was made, Klopp’s men come into this clash as firm favourites against an Inter side who are locked in a thrilling three-way title battle in Serie A.
The San Siro in Milan will host the match.
TV channel: In the UK, the match will be televised live on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate, with coverage beginning at 7 pm.
Live stream: BT Sport subscribers will also be able to watch the action online via the website or BT Sport app.
Live coverage: You can follow all the action as it happens tonight with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog.
Klopp has a wealth of attacking options to choose from. Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are both back from the Africa Cup of Nations and started against Burnley at the weekend, while Diogo Jota was only a substitute for that game and could return to the starting XI.
January signing Luis Diaz is available despite playing for Porto in the group stage, with Uefa’s cup-tied rules have changed in 2018 to allow clubs to register three new players in their squads following the January window, regardless of their earlier appearances.
Captain Jordan Henderson has also been declared fit after a knee issue.
The home side knows they must surely take a lead to Anfield to stand any chance of springing an upset but Klopp’s team have been in terrific form as they look to put pressure on Man City in the title race and should carry that into Europe.
Liverpool to win 2-1.
