Nigeria Vs Tunisia: Nigerians React To Super Eagles’s Defeat, Drag President Buhari on Twitter
In the Just concluded match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria vs Tunisia, many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their pain over the Giant of Africa’s defeat.
It’s a silent moment for many Nigerians on Sunday night as the Super Eagles’ shine was brought to shadowed by The Eagles of Carthage of Tunisia. The Super Eagles, after weeks of thrilling the nation in stunning styles in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Nigeria’s side has maintained a clean sheet in the group stage being the only African country to win all three matches in the group stage. However, the high hopes of Nigerians winning the AFCON were cut-short in its prime as Super Eagles lose guard – lost focus in the early minutes of the second half. Leaving room for The Eagles of Carthage of Tunisia’s captain Wahbi Khazri to score a fantastic goal.
Recall that Nigeria were the only team to qualify from the group stages with a 100 per cent record, after strong wins over Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau. Tunisia, meanwhile, scraped through in Group F as the third-placed team, behind Mali and Gambia.
Asides from the Super Eagles team delivering less than what was expected by the viewers leading to the match to take a new turn. From Iwobi being served a breakfast – Red cards for committing a foul, to Umar Sadiq being the man on many people’s lips, missing some chances that could have led to goals. While others were running kiti kiti kata kata on the pitch.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have come out in troops to call out the country’s President, claiming the Super Eagles Team lost the match as they granted President Muhammadu Buhari’s virtual meeting ahead of the match.
Recall that earlier Sunday afternoon, President Buhari held a virtual meeting with the team in Cameroon giving them his full support to uproot the wings of The Eagles of Carthage of Tunisia. Sadly, the reverse is the case, as they took the Super Eagles for a ride in a 1-0 defeat.
As a corollary, many Nigerian took to the popular Micro-blogging platform to point fingers at the President for being the source of misfortune to the Super Eagles instead of a source of inspiration.
A Twitter user said, ”Buhari has carried his bad luck to Super Eagles. We won’t win this AFCON. It’s official”.
According to a Twitter User, @HenrySheild, he tweeted, ”May Buhari never call you”.
Another tweep user @Reno Omokri said, Iwobi red card, Iheanacho yellow card. All the time they have been playing this never happened. Why is it that it is the day they spoke to Buhari that these series of unwelcome events rained on us! Energies are very contagious. Avoid negative people.
