The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has sealed off two branches of the Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank) over unpaid taxes running into N184 million.
Brandnewsday understands that the two branches operating in the state; Udo Udoma and Abak Road were sealed off today, Monday after the State Government Agency had acquired an exparte order tagged ” Notice of Distrain” from the Akwa Ibom State High Court, Uyo Division ordering that access to the premises and its facilities be restricted.
It could be recalled that the two branches of GTBank were given warning notice on February 4, 2020.
According to AKIRS, the bank has failed to comply with the warning 10 months after.
