The controversial long ASUU Strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities may soon come to an end, as ASUU has signalled on suspending the eight months ASUU strike.
Brandnewsday gathers that members of the union have reiterated its ongoing efforts to its stakeholders on suspending the long strike, adding that the union is concentrated on way forward to end the strike.
Speaking on the development, ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi told newsmen on Tuesday, December 2 that the union is in consultation with its members nationwide regarding offers made by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration on the welfare of lecturers in Nigerian universities.
Prof Ogunyemi said: “We have what the government is offering and have transmitted the same to our members nationwide and we are consulting on what the next line of action will be. You know a tree does not make a forest and our union is democratic in nature and practice.
“As for how long the consultation would take, I cannot say but it may go beyond this week. Whatever we decide on is definitely going to be in the national interest, the interest of our children, the interest of our members, and the good of all.”
