In addition to the efforts already made by the management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa to combat the spread of coronavirus, the management led by Dr Abddulateef Ademola Olatunji has supported the Dean of Schools to fumigate the polytechnic campuses ahead of resumption.

The fumigation process was carried out by the polytechnic’s scientists from the Science Laboratory Technology Department in line with World Health Organization (WHO) and Nigeria Center For Disease Control’s (NCDC) guidelines.

Before the fumigation exercise, one of the scientists explained the preparation of the chemicals used for fumigation.

He said, ” the preparation is in line with directives given by the World Health Organization ( WHO) and Nigeria Center for Disease Control ( NCDC).

According to him, “The World Health Organization said the solution should be 5% Hydrogen Hydrochloride and in order not to be harmful to the people that will do the fumigation and the populace, we took it to the laboratory, we did the necessary calculation and we arrived at an appropriate concentration which is in line with World Health Organization and Nigeria Center for Disease Control’s directives.”

Federal Polytechnic Offa Rector, Dr Olatunji in his remarks said: “The war against Covid-19 is a collective responsibility and today, we are very proud of our institution because we have our preventive machines intact produced by Science Laboratory Technology and Mechanical Engineering Departments.
